Monroe Zetas attend Founders Day Celebration

On Saturday, January 14, 2023, members of Epsilon Omicron Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., traveled the I-20 corridor to their annual North Louisiana Consortium to celebrate their Founder’s Day.  This celebration commemorates the founding of the sorority on January 16, 1920.

Zeta Iota Zeta Chapter of Shreveport hosted the three (3) other member chapters of the North Louisiana Consortium.  The other chapters enjoying this extraordinary event were: Epsilon Alpha Zeta Chapter (Grambling), Beta Epsilon Zeta Chapter (Shreveport), and Epsilon Omicron Zeta Chapter (Monroe).  The Amicae of Monroe, the auxiliary Friends also attended and enjoyed the festivities with the theme: “Its’s A Tea Party: Celebrating the Extraordinary Founders-Roaring 20s Style”.

The program included the usual format with greetings, welcomes, songs/music proclamations, and Zoom for our Sorors who could not attend in person.  A special media production/presentation was shown which honored the five (5) founders of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.  There was also a musical entertainment followed by a delicious lunch.

Each chapter presented highlights of their chapter’s community service projects.  Ideas were brought forth for the purpose of networking.  Hazel Sellers of Monroe, the co-founder of the consortium, brought reflections. Her closing remarks centered on the fact of continuous service of their fellow communities in Shreveport, Grambling and Monroe for the past 35 years serving the I-20 corridor.
