Muhammad’s Council landslide win seen as a Southside victory

In an election that captured the essence of grassroots mobilization and community advocacy, Minister Verbon Muhammad’s victory in the Monroe City Council race on April 27 is a story of unexpected triumph and profound change.

Muhammad’s community-driven campaign swept 11 of the 12 precincts, leaving incumbent councilwoman Kema Dawson to win one precinct, in which she won all four votes cast.
