A series of violent incidents, including a homicide and the arrest of a mother when her three-year-old shot her four-year-old, have occurred in the Monroe area since late December, according to local law enforcement.
Child Shot in December Incident, Mother Charged
On December 26th, a four-year-old child was critically wounded in a shooting incident on the 1700 block of S. 3rd Street. The child’s mother, Antristinny Chatman, 25, has been charged with Child Desertion and Second Degree Cruelty to Juveniles.
According to police reports, Chatman left three young children unattended in a bedroom while fumigating the house for insects.
