Nate Jennings named Extension Agent at LSU AgCenter

Bryan Nathaniel (Nate) Jennings began his new position as the LSU AgCenter’s Extension Agent for Richland and Ouachita Parish on August 1. He is originally from Oak Grove, LA where he completed his elementary and high school education. He then attended the University of Louisiana in Monroe graduating with a degree in Agribusiness.

While in high school he worked for local farmers each summer until school started. During college he interned with the LSU AgCenter’s Sweet Potato Research Station, Syngenta an agricultural chemical company and was employed as a field scout for Peter’s Crops Consulting working in several parishes including Richland and Ouachita Parish. After graduating college, he accepted a position as a Sale Representative in Vidalia, LA with Three Rivers Farm Supply. He has now found himself back in a more familiar part of Louisiana in Richland and Ouachita Parish.

He comes from a family with experience in farming. Both his grandfathers, Myrl Sistrunk and Doug Jennings, were sweet potato farmers as well as his dad Bryan Jennings. When he first went to college, he had plans of becoming a Physical Therapist thriving from his love of sports, but he realized that wasn’t the route for him. It is difficult to ignore your roots and what you come from, so he decided to pursue a career in agriculture.

He is excited to continue his career in Richland and Ouachita Parish with the LSU AgCenter. He hopes to learn much in this position and give back to the community the knowledge he has gained.
Nate can be reached at the Richland Parish Extension Office, 702 Madeline Street, Rayville, LA 71269, office phone 318-728-3216.
