Play about Henry Carroll, “Boss Man,” being staged in several cities

Plays about Monroe History and heroes are being performed across the United States as the nation wraps up its celebration Black History month.

  For 35 years, local playwright Roosevelt Wright, Jr., produced full-scale musicals at the Monroe Civic Center depicting various aspects of Monroe History from slavery through the civil rights movement. The plays were attended by thousands of students and adults from across Northeast Louisiana each year.

  What many Monroyans were not aware of is that those plays have been staged in cities across the country, especially during Black History celebrations.
