Most Free Press readers think the Carroll High School football team had a winning year this year even though it posted a losing season.
Over 60% of the school’s players were honor roll students, which caught the attention of the general public, disappointed because it lost on the field, but happy the students were learning in the classroom.
The specific poll question asked was: “Carroll High School posted a losing season in 2018, but over 60% of its players became honor students, a turnaround from 2017. Did the team have a winning or losing season?
Over 96% of the poll respondents said the team won academically and should be proud.
Of that 96%, a whopping 60% of the respondents said, “It won, where it counts, in the classroom,” (60.6%).
Others said “If football motivated players to achieve in class, it won,” (36.4%).
However, 3% said, “It lost, because great teams win on the field, and in the classroom.
The poll measured responses from November 1, 2018 to November 13, 2018.
