Precious Pearls presented at tea

Six local youth were presented on Sunday at the Monroe Civic Center as Precious Pearls debutantes of the Omicron Iota Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. The debutantes included Arianna Lee, Samiya Ford, Mikayla Ashley, Jayla Grimble, Kaitlyn Douglas, and Chadiyah Jones. During the event, each debutante presented a talent. Lee recited the poem “Dear Black Woman” by Abanno C.E. Ford danced to “Rain on Us” by Ernest Pugh. Ashley sang “When He Sees Me” from the Broadway musical “Waitress”. Grimble danced to “Your Spirit” by Tasha Cobb. Douglas recited the Maya Angelou poem “Phenomenal Woman”. Jones danced to “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele. Mrs. Jenett Hunter serves as the 2024 Precious Pearls Clinic Director and Ms. Lawanda Elliott serves as the Omicron Iota Omega Chapter President. The debutantes will be formally presented at the 2024 cotillion, which will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024.
