Prisoner complains of being forced to take COVID vaccination

Editor’s Note: The following letter is from a prisoner at the David C. Wade Correctional Center in Winnfield. His thoughts and views are his own.

Dear Free Press,

Revolutionary Greetings!

May peace be upon you all…

My name is Tyroderick D. Foster #396993 and I’m from Winnfield, Louisiana. I’m writing on the behalf of myself and fellow inmates at “David Wade Correctional Center” in Homer, Louisiana. We are being subjected to cruel and unusual punishment in so many types of forms.

1) Some of us are having our money taking by the inmate Ban King at DWCC. Our family sends their hard working money to us only to be stolen by the people that are over our funds through the company J Pay. All they tell us is that it’s not DWCC doing. The question is who taking our money? Which is against the law and is considered theft.

2) DWCC is using the COVID to hold some of us in cells with other inmates that are once tested positive for the COVID virus. That’s like putting our lives in danger and forcing some of us to refuse cellmates and suffering a write up that would hold us even longer in a cell and keeping us from seeing our kids.

3) We are forced to take the COVID vaccine in order to be released from lockdown. I’m one of the inmates that were promised to be released back into population if I take the vaccine and I’ve been in a cell since November 12, 2020, without a rule violation.

4) DWCC is using the COVID to limit our phone calls to two times a month. Visiting our family, spouse, kids. We are not allowed attorney visitors to help with our cases, lawsuits, and appeals. We are not allowed the proper access to the law library to focus on appealing our case. We are being subjected to live in harsh conditions and environments that are not safe and putting us at risk of catching the COVID-19.

I’m seeking help from the public to help bring order and justice and make our living conditions safer to live in. We are already suffering every day by not being allowed to see our family and kids and DWCC is only adding to the pain. What more do they want when they took almost everything from us. I know I can’t win this battle by myself but with the help of the public, we can win this war.

I salute you guys at “Free Press” and for what y’all doing to help spread the word of all the corruption that’s going on. I’m on a non-violent charge and could earn good time, plus been past my work release date and not being allowed to go due to the COVIDD but DWCC is bringing inmates in every week from other prisons but not shipping out.

I have also been approved to a ReEntry program in Bossier, La., and once more I’m not being allowed to attend. I ask that you all please help us spread the word we are truly in need of help. I thank y’all for taking the time to read this and hoping this reaches y’all. Take care.
