Brown says Richwood will have to pay over $6,000 for failed recall election

On Saturday, 254 voters in Richwood cast votes in a battle to remove Mayor Gerald Brown from office. With a 13% turnout, only 101 voters voted in favor of the recall. The recall stemmed from a battle between the mayor and a majority of the Town of Richwood’s Board of Aldermen.

Critics of the mayor complained that Brown often takes actions without consulting the board out of courtesy. Others questioned the mayor’s fiscal management ability. In response to the complaints, Brown constantly defended his administration, pointing out the many advancements that have been made in the Town of Richwood.
