Recall of Richwood mayor Gerald Brown set for November 13th vote

Backers of a recall petition against Richwood Mayor Gerald Brown received word Wednesday that the Governor John Bel Edwards, after receiving the required signatures has set a recall election for November 13, 2021.

The Ouachita Parish Registrar of Voters office confirmed Wednesday that backers of a petition to recall Mayor Brown had secured more than enough votes to force a recall election. According to the Registrar’s Office, the petition was certified on July 12th and sent to the governor.

According to state law, the governor must proclaim a recall election no later than 15 days after receiving a certified petition from the Registrar’s office.
