Renwick Pedestrian Crosswalk paint job cost $880,000 and rising

The city and state are spending $880,000 to paint the Renwick Pedestrian bridge that was built at a cost of $120,000 fifty years ago. Without access for the disabled, the project could cost over $1 million to complete.

The paint job on the Pedestrian crosswalk at Renwick Street is nearly finished, but its costs have exceeded the initial construction costs.

Councilwoman Juanita Woods first promoted the Pedestrian crosswalk paint-job idea during the waning years of the Mayo Administration.
Woods was concerned about the eye appeal of the 50-year-old crosswalk that had begun to rust and lose its eye appeal.
