On April 21, 2020 officers of the Monroe Police Department Stopped Timothy Williams in the 700 Block of North 4th Street, an arrest that resulted in several officers being placed on administrative leave and one being charged in connection with an abuse of force offense.
When asked why Williams was stopped, police say he was walking in the neighborhood in which they had received an audible alert.
Monroe Police have been accused of randomly stopping black males in certain neighborhoods without probable cause which often leads to abuse complaints.
