Retirement reception held for Highshaw and Simon

On Friday, January 8, 2021, several members of the Monroe City Marshal’s office took time out to surprise and celebrate the retirement of Marshal Wince Highsaw and Mrs. Carrie Simon. Marshal Highshaw was given accolades and recognition for over 40 years of service; and Mrs. Simon for over 18 years. Deputy Courtney McDaniel, Coordinator guided the program. Pastor O.W. Billups opened with song “To God Be the Glory” and prayer. Pastor Ike Byrd offered a tribute to Marshal Highshaw by using the acronym “L.A.W.,” and honoring him for his Leadership, Accessibility, and Work. He also provided the blessing of the food and the benediction.

Marshal Highshaw gave tribute to Mrs. Simon for her years of dedication and service to the Marshal’s office and the city of Monroe. Pamela Chisley provided accolades through song, “If I Can Help Somebody!” Newly elected Marshal Robert Cherry was in charge of special presentations.
