SEDD applies for $3 million Southside business expansion grant

SEDD preparing its Arizona Street complex to be a business training and incubator center. Plans for Southside Model Neighborhoods to be unveiled next month.

The Southside Economic Development District approved plans to get proposals to develop a master plan for South Monroe’s economic development as it unfolds its 2023 agenda.

The SEDD met Monday at the Benoit Recreation Center and approved a Request for Proposals to develop a master plan for Monroe’s Southside that would include all infrastructure plans presently underway by the city plus the 47 projects in the SEDD’s 25-year plan called the “Southside Dream.”

Tony Little, president of SEDD, says the goal of SEDD is to use its available funds to complete all plans until we have exhausted available resources.

Little said SEDD has submitted a $3 million grant application with the Biden Administration to help minority businesses…
