Services for Billye Goree Burns, a revered educator, public servant, mentor, and trailblazer, will be held over two days in West Monroe and Simsboro. Burns passed away on April 9, 2025.
A public viewing will take place on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Trenton Baptist Church, located at 2117 Cypress Street in West Monroe, Louisiana.
At 4:00 p.m., members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will conduct the Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony, honoring her 65 years of committed membership and sisterhood.
The funeral service will follow on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Rocky Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 133 Braswell Lane in Simsboro, Louisiana.
Family, friends, former students, and community leaders are expected to gather and reflect on the remarkable impact of a woman who dedicated her life to education and public service.
