Services set for Louise Green, 95

Louise Moore Green, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 7, 2024, at the age of 95. Her life was a testament to faith, family, and service.

Born on August 2, 1929, in Alto, LA, to John Moore and Janie Starr Moore, Louise was later adopted by William Neal, Sr. and Alice Neal. On Christmas Day, 1947, she married the love of her life, William Green, Sr., with whom she raised six children: John, William Jr., Lula, Robert, Patricia, and Ronald.

Louise was known for her loving nature, kindness, and exceptional baking skills. Her devotion to family was evident in the love she showered upon her children and grandchildren. Her faith journey began at an early age when she was baptized at Cuba Baptist Church in Winnsboro, LA, under Reverend R. L. Teats’ leadership. After moving to Monroe, she became the first member to join Beth Eden Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend Cleophas Simmons, where she served faithfully until her health declined.

Louise’s education took her through Augusta and Winnsboro High School. Her professional life included years of dedicated service at the Children’s Clinic and later, 22 years in the housekeeping department at St. Francis Medical Hospital.

She is survived by her children Robert L. Green (Zenna) of Washington, D.C., Patricia G. Zeigler (Willie) of Monroe, LA, and Ronald D. Green, Sr., (Marilyn) of Monroe, LA. Louise also leaves behind five adopted sisters: Rosie Caston (Eddie), Melissa Johnson (Louis), Velma Neal Brown, Ola M. Neal, and LaTanga Blackson (Kenneth); two adopted brothers: Arthur L. Neal, Jr. and Williams H. Neal, Jr.; and numerous other family members and friends.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, John Moore and Janie Starr; brothers Theotis and Columbus Holmes; her husband, William Green, Sr.; and three of her children: John Green (Coon), William Green, Jr. (Joe), and Lula Mae Green.

    • Visitation: Friday, August 16, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McFarland Funeral Home Chapel on Berg Jones Lane.
    • Funeral Service: Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Greater Free Gift Baptist Church
