Funeral services for a man deputies say was killed after a fight with his girlfriend have been set for Friday.
Services for Michael Whitfield will be held Friday, February 8th at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Living God at 1605 Oaklawn Street.
Authorities are still investigating the incident that reportedly happened
in the early morning hours of Feb. 1 on Candy Queen Lane.
According to Ouachita Parish Sheriff Deputies Whitfield was killed during a fight with his girlfriend.
Investigators say the girlfriend was taken to a local hospital
for treatment for injuries sustained during the fight. She was
interviewed by investigators and released.
Authorities say Whitfield had a history of domestic violence,
including a 2018 conviction for domestic abuse battery third offense. He
was on parole.
No charges were filed in connection with Whitfield’s death. His body has been sent for an autopsy.
