Shelling, Berry win re-election to city school board

Shelling makes history as the only board member elected to the same seat three times after having been ousted twice.

    Brenda Shelling has been re-elected to an unprecedented third term on the Monroe City School Board.

    Shelling was elected with 63 percent of the vote over incumbent board member Sharon Neal-Greer.

    The vote tally was 568 for Shelling and 330 for Neal-Greer.

    Shelling is generally respected as one of the most knowledgeable educators in the state, having served a term as president of the Louisiana School Board Association and spent a lifetime in education.
