Shooter arrested: 7 attempted murders, same day in two places

Jamarion J. Godfrey, a 17-year-old resident of Richwood, Louisiana, has been arrested twice in August 2024 on multiple gun violence charges including four for attempted murders, with as many as three attempted murder charges pending. Reportedly, three of the victims were children, six, eight and nine years old.

The Monday shootings and arrest were the culmination of events that began earlier involving Godfrey.

On August 4, Godfrey was apprehended by police for alleged illegal use of weapons or dangerous instruments.

He was released after posting a $5,000 bond. This arrest followed an incident where Godfrey was identified as a suspect in a shooting involving a rifle.

Just over a week later, on August 13, Godfrey was arrested again, this time on Berg Jones Lane, accused of four counts of attempted second-degree murder.
