Assistant city attorney says this administration will not “allow” Dawson to schedule any vote the mayor does not approve. Past council Presidents say the mayor has no power over council agenda.
Despite promises to place the $25 million Southside dream request on the council agenda for an up or down vote, last week Kema Dawson reversed course and refused the request.
SEDD president Tony Little says Dawson verbally promised him that if SEDD made its request directly to her that she would guarantee that it would be scheduled for an up or down vote. He says she even checked back to insure that the language of the request was clear.
However, last week Dawson responded to the SEDD request with the following letter:
