An aspiring “princess” and a student photographer have both become the subject of national attention after a photo posted on social media went viral in recent days.
When six-year-old Taylor Sims sat in the auditorium of Beekman Charter School last month, she waited patiently as her classmates and teachers shared her moment. She didn’t pay any attention to DeMarcus Green, the school’s student photographer, who captured her “dream moment” in a classic photograph that captured the hopes and dreams of not only Sims’ mom, Lexii Sims, and her family but all others.
The adults who saw the picture saw innocence, potential, prospect, and intellect, all waiting to be released in the coming years.
Her mom posted the photo taken by Green on social media on May 24, and it became a national sensation, focusing attention on Sims, her family, Green, and Beekman Charter School.
