Swanson whistle blower claims firing related to reporting misconduct

A former officer of the Tactical Response Unit (TRU) at Swanson Center for Youth-Monroe has come forward with detailed allegations of workplace misconduct, retaliation, and questionable practices at the juvenile detention facility.

Quarynecha Lawrence, a six-year veteran of the facility and former Juvenile Justice Specialist 6, claims she was wrongfully terminated in July 2024 after reporting various incidents of misconduct. Lawrence, who had previously been recognized as JJS of the Year and had no prior disciplinary actions, states she was placed on investigative leave in May 2024 before receiving notice of her termination.
