Theus sets meeting to explain tax increase proposal

Charles Theus is having a community meeting next week to try to drum up community support for a new tax he wants to impose on Southside residents.

Theus wants to impose a .55 percent sales tax on Southside residents to bring in about a million dollars a year for the South Side Economic Development District. However, the State Bonding Commission wants the SEDD to have a letter of support from the Monroe City Council.
