Thomas, Muhammad, Hopkins, to lead local NAACP, after elections

The Ouachita Parish Branch of the NAACP has elected new officers through electronic balloting conducted by the national NAACP office on Saturday.

Rev. Cliff Thomas will lead the civil rights organization as its new president, alongside Minister Verbon Muhammad as first vice president and Don Hopkins as second vice-president. Charles Heckard and Gayberyl Shyne were elected as treasurer and assistant treasurer, respectively.

The branch also elected ten members to serve on its executive committee: Mildred Blunt, Robert Bradford, Jr., Vernon Hall, Kaye Honeycutt, Shelia Howell, Barbara…
