The local unit of Top Teens of America was saluted recently during a program held at the New Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Top Teens was among eight local teen organizations in the city that work to inspire excellence among youth.
Top Teens of America is a national, professional, and humanitarian organization. It is sponsored by the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.
The National Top Teens of America was organized in 1969. The Monroe Chapter of Top Teens was organized in 1989 by Barbara Martin. The group was saltued because of its community service activites that include Sickle Cell Disease Awareness, March of Dimes, and Health Fairs.
Top Teen officers recognized were: Brandon Kim, president; Madison Davis, 1st Vice-President; Courtney Cooper, 2nd vice-president; Jeffery Nabors, recording secretary; and Clifford Jones, assistant recording secretary; Cearra Kline, financial secretary; Treasurer, Cole Jones; Jamecia Jones, corresponding secretary; Madison Nelson, Chaplain; and Chase Mitchell, parliamentarian; Naiya Fort, historian; Jade Harris, Sergeant-at-Arms; Janaya Jackson, director of operations; and Winter Landers, assistant financial secretary.
Gloria Kimes is the president of the Top Ladies of distinction.
