Prominent Church women Pastor Dottie Rivers and Sis. Bonnie Richardson died last week on the same night. Both funerals will be held Saturday at the same church, but different times.
Two prominent church women died on the same day and will have funeral services on the same day at different times.
The community is mourning the death of local Pastor Dottie Rivers and veteran Christian Educator Bonnie Rivers who both died last week.
Funeral services for both will be held at the same church at different times this Saturday.
Visitation for Pastor Rivers will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 from 2:00–6:00 p.m. at Word of Revival Center, Marx Street, Monroe, LA.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Greater New Antioch Baptist Church, Rev. John L. Russell II, Pastor, 301 Sherrouse Ave. Monroe, LA.

Pastor Dottie Rivers was born July 24, 1939, to the late Ed & Roberta Rivers Gray in Union Parish. She was preceded in death by her son: Michael Carter, brothers and sisters: Reuben Rivers, Johnny B. Rivers, Willie B. Rivers, Gertie Mae Rivers Washington, Berda Mae Rivers, Mildred Rivers Griffin. She departed this life on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at 3:35 p.m. at the home of her daughter and son in law Pastor and Minister Eddy and DeWanda Hamilton.
She received her early education at the Old Trenton School and Boley High School. She was employed and retired from Manville in West Monroe, La.
She was a member of the famous Roe Singers.
She accepted Christ at an early age at the Olive Branch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E. D. Armstrong. She served faithfully as a choir member and in other capacities until she accepted the call to the gospel ministry under the leadership of Pastor Alfred Mack. She was also licensed and ordained by Pastor Alfred Mack.
In 1991, she launched out in faith and founded the Word of Faith Revival Center. The 1st location was on South 2nd Street. The Lord blessed her and the congregation to move to the Marx St. location where she served faithfully until death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Two devoted daughters DaWanda Hamilton (Eddy Hamilton), and daughter Halorene Branson, eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. A host of nieces & nephews cousins and friends.

Mrs. Bonnie Clomon Richardson was one of the Christian Education Leaders of the B.B. and O. Baptist Association which met jointly last week with two other groups. Had she been well she would have delivered the Director’s message. Instead, word spread that she had gone home to glory on the same night of the address which was delivered by her pastor, as a capacity audience shed tears.
Visitation for Mrs. Richardson will be held Friday, August 16, 2019, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at King Ollie Baptist Church, Rev. John L. Perry Sr. Pastor, 3817 Harvester Dr. Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Bonnie Clomon Richardson was born April 17, 1938 to the union of a Baptist Minister and Sharecropper Rev. James Prime Clomon, Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Briggerson Clomon in Swartz La., who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Rev. Cato Brooks III, three brothers, Marion (M.C.) Clomon, James Clomon, Jr. and Joe Clomon.
She departed this life Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at the Glenwood Regional Medical Center.
She accepted Christ at the St. Phillip Baptist Church under the leadership of her father, Reverend James P. Cloman, Sr. who baptized her.
She graduated from (Terzia)Richwood High School in May 1957. She later graduated and received her B. S. Degree in Elementary Education at A.M. & N. College ( University of Arkansas) in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
She taught 1st Grade for nine years in Forrest City, Arkansas before moving to Chicago in June of 1972. In September 1972, she was hired at the St. Clara Child Care Center and was later promoted to Director.
She later retired and returned home to Monroe, La. and united with the King Ollie Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John L. Perry, Sr. where she served in various ministries but was well known as a staunch Christian Educator.
She was the Director of Congress of the B.B. and O. Association as well as COPP Instructor for both the Louisiana Missionary Baptist Convention and surrounding areas. She was also a member of the Owl Street Women’s Ministry.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her Loving Daughter Catina Brooks Groves, five sisters, Bessie M. Clomon Ceasar, Martha Johnson, Ada M. Clomon-Smith, Sarah M. Clomon, Ollie B. Clomon Bill, six brothers, Friley Clomon, Charles Clomon, Jessie L. Clomon, Phillip Clomon, Carl Clomon and Thomas E. Clomon, six grandchildren, Monique Brooks, Catina Treasure Groves, Alexis Eunice Groves, Cia Monet Brooks, James Aaron Johnson, Kinnedye Pacheco, two great grandchildren, Amiyah Felix and Alanna Groves and a host nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
