Vidrine is suspected target of school district financial misconduct complaint

If leaked reports are true, Monroe City Schools Superintendent Brent Vidrine finds himself at the center of a potentially damaging investigation into suspected financial misconduct.

The Monroe City School Board officially announced the investigation during their meeting on September 5, 2023, with Board President Bill Willson disclosing that the board had alerted both the District Attorney’s office and the Louisiana Legislative Auditor to the alleged misconduct.

The revelation came as a shock to many within the community, as Superintendent Vidrine has held his position for several years and is widely regarded as a respected figure within the education sector. However, based on guidance from auditors and legal counsel, Willson said the school district deemed it necessary to initiate an inquiry into what they described as possible or suspected “employee misconduct of a financial nature.”
