Whisper a prayer for our schools

By Lisa Wilmore

“Lord, give us a praying spirit.” Whisper to us what to say.

Our Heavenly Father, we honor and adore You. You are the giver of every good and perfect gift. You are the light that shines on a hill where everyone who chooses to see, may bask in Your glory. You are the great “I AM”. The “I AM” who looked beyond our faults and saw our needs. We confess our sins and we Thank You for forgiveness through our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Lord, we are reminded in Your Word when Jesus, our Savior, prayed to you according to Your writer and apostle, John. When He prayed, He asked You to bless Himself, His disciples, and future believers. His perfect example showed us that we too must come to You in prayer.

We humbly ask for a blessing for our school leaders, teachers, staff members and communities as our schools reopen for another year. Father, there is no way our schools can survive without Your wisdom, guidance and leadership. We ask, Father, that you put a hedge of protection around them while they not only journey to and from school, but throughout the school day, also. We know that when You stand guard, we can lounge in safety and assurance that all is well.

Father, there may be some people who will allow the evil one to use them where their heart is wicked and seek out negative behaviors rather than positive behaviors. Please Father, dispel this type of spirit before it reaches our children. Give our leaders, teachers and staff members a patient heart-a heart that loves and understands the way You understand. Also, show our leaders how You want them to treat people. Infiltrate their hearts where kindness, compassion, and charity are the driving force of their leadership.

We pray, Father, that this is one of the best school years that our children and others will enjoy. We pray that you open the minds of our children to receive the knowledge that is imparted in their minds.
Thank you, Father, for that principal who will ensure the safety of our children and that teacher who comes to work ready to serve; a special blessing for our paraprofessionals, dietician staff, bus drivers, maintenance workers and others. Give them the desires of their hearts and what they need to survive in this unfair world.
Lord, as we whisper this prayer to You this morning, we are reminded of Scripture by Paul who wrote to the church of Philippi, which reminds us to “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let our request be made known to God (Phil. 4:6). We have made our request known to You. We believe that You have heard it and will grant it. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.

Love You, Lord!
