Whitehorn to be NAACP banquet speaker

Sheriff-Elect Henry Whitehorn of Caddo Parish, known for his historic election victory, will be the featured speaker at the Ouachita Parish NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet Saturday at the Monroe Civic Center.

Whitehorn’s path to becoming Caddo Parish’s first Black sheriff was marked by controversy and perseverance. After initially winning the election by a single vote, a court-ordered rerun was held due to allegations of voting irregularities. In the rematch, held this March, Whitehorn secured a decisive victory with 53% of the vote, defeating his opponent by more than 4,000 votes.

Tickets for the banque are $50 each and $350 per table.

Whitehorn’s triumph serves as an inspiration to many, highlighting the importance of fair elections and the power of community engagement.
