Wince Highshaw, Monroe City Marshal, announced his retirement as a marshall at a press conference Monday.
Highshaw is presently the marshal for Wards 3 and 10 connected to the Monroe City Court. He is the first and only African-American to serve in this position.
Highshaw’s retirement ends a 47-year career in law enforcement. He has served in the marshal’s office for 18 years.
