City Councilwoman Juanita Woods says Monroe Police should not dismiss any complaints of threatening activity as “frivolous” if they want the public to respond to its “see something, say something” appeal.
Woods’ claims stem from an unsettling encounter she experienced on January 31, 2024, following a public dedication at the ARCO facility, which led to a controversial interaction when a man she did not know at the time began to hurl obscenities and threats at her; threats the MPD initially dismissed as frivolous.
According to Woods, after attending the ARCO dedication program, she routinely worked the crowd exchanging greetings and shaking hands. However, when she extended her hand to one man, he began cursing her and asked, “Why are you speaking to me.. you know I don’t f– with you?”
