The Wossman Lady Cats are no strangers to the big stage, and on Friday night, they’ll be right where they belong—fighting for another state championship. With three consecutive titles under their belt, the defending champions will take the court in Hammond aiming for an unprecedented fourth straight crown under head coach Otis Robinson Jr.
For the past three seasons, Robinson has crafted a powerhouse, blending defensive intensity with a balanced offensive attack. The results speak for themselves: a 2022 championship victory over Madison Prep, a 2023 triumph against Albany, and a 2024 blowout win over South Beauregard.
Now, in 2025, the No. 1-seeded Lady Cats (23-3) are one win away from cementing their dynasty.
“This team has been built on discipline, defense, and determination,” said Robinson. “We don’t take anything for granted. Every year is a new journey, and this group has worked to earn its place.”
Leading the charge is a dynamic roster featuring senior standouts Anyra Wilson and Ramiah Augurson, both averaging double figures in scoring. The emergence of freshman sensation Heaven Weeks has also bolstered Wossman’s depth, keeping their opponents on their heels.
Wossman’s relentless full-court pressure and well-rounded offensive attack have been key to their dominance. The team’s battle-tested schedule, which included matchups against powerhouse programs like Parkway and Lafayette Christian, has prepared them for the intensity of the playoffs.
“This is what we’ve worked for all season,” said Wilson. “We know what’s at stake, but we also know what we’re capable of.”
Awaiting them in the state championship is a hungry opponent looking to derail Wossman’s reign. But with history on the line and a legacy at stake, the Lady Cats are determined to make Friday night one to remember.
Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. in the University Center at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Will the Lady Cats complete their four-peat? The city of Monroe and the entire Wossman community will be watching, hoping to witness history in the making.
