In a thrilling finale to the 2025 LHSAA Girls’ Marsh Madness State Tournament, the Wossman Lady Cats secured their fourth consecutive state championship, solidifying their status as a Louisiana basketball dynasty. The game took place on Friday, March 7, at the University Center at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, where Wossman faced off against Albany High School in the Division II Non-Select championship.
Under the leadership of head coach Otis Robinson Jr., the Lady Cats have consistently demonstrated a blend of defensive prowess and balanced offense, which has been the hallmark of their success over the past four years. This season, Wossman entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed with a strong record of 23-3, having dominated their opponents throughout the regular season.
The team’s dynamic roster, featuring senior standouts Anyra Wilson and Ramiah Augurson, along with freshman sensation Heaven Weeks, played a crucial role in their championship run. Wilson and Augurson have been instrumental in leading the team’s scoring efforts, while Weeks has added depth and versatility to the lineup.
Wossman’s relentless full-court pressure and well-rounded offensive strategy have been key factors in their dominance. The team’s battle-tested schedule, which included matchups against powerhouse programs like Parkway and Lafayette Christian, prepared them well for the intensity of the playoffs.
In the championship game, Wossman’s determination and discipline paid off as they outmaneuvered Albany to claim the title. The victory marks a historic four-peat for the Lady Cats, cementing their legacy as one of the most successful high school girls basketball programs in Louisiana.
“This team has been built on discipline, defense, and determination,” said Coach Robinson. “We don’t take anything for granted. Every year is a new journey, and this group has worked to earn its place.”
