Youth Program teaches financial literacy through “Stock Market” Game

Members of the “Black Tie Guys” Youth Mentoring program are learning valuable lessons about wealth and financial security at an early age through an innovative “Stock Market Game.”

The program, sponsored by Tab-N-Action, Inc., focuses on mentoring at-risk youth through tutoring, mentoring, travel, and hands-on instruction with tools for success.

Roosevelt Wright, Jr., director of the program, emphasizes the importance of financial literacy. “What schools don’t teach kids are the three things they need for financial security when they grow up,” Wright said. “The three keys are stocks and investments, real estate, and business. They need one or more of these tools to climb out of poverty.”

Last year, the program helped boys start their own businesses, providing loans and guidance as they sold candy, started yard care businesses, and sold lemonade. Participants learned…
