Monroe native Ta’Mahjaye Burrell has successfully completed basic training at the U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, officially beginning his service as a United States Sailor.
Burrell is the son of Roderick and Omeka (Nash) Burrell of Monroe.
A proud member of our local community, Burrell is a 2025 graduate of Wossman High School. Before answering the call to military service, he was pursuing studies at Southern University in Baton Rouge. In the Navy, he hopes to train as a Nuclear Submarine Operator.
Having successfully navigated the rigorous physical and mental demands of Navy Boot Camp, Seaman Burrell now advances to his specialized rating training.
