Links participate in Read Across America Day

In celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, members of the Monroe-Grambling Chapter of The Links, Incorporated participated in National Read Across America Day at Cypress Point Elementary School in Monroe.

This activity was held on Friday, March 2nd. Chapter members LaVerne Conley, Janice Winder, Katina Beverly-Clark and Erica Murray, along Richard Winder and Annelise Murray participated in the activity.

Mr. Winder joined members in explaining the importance of reading. Various Dr. Seuss books provided by the school and the Links were read to approximately 60 children from kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade classes. Activities such as this one help to accomplish a major goal of the organization’s Services to Youth Facet, which is to promote early literacy.
