September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor the brave children who have fought cancer, celebrate survivors, support families still fighting, and remember the precious lives taken too soon.
For Apolonya Williams, going gold has a very special meaning. Her son, A’mir Andrew Lewis, was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma at just one year old. A’mir courageously fought childhood cancer before gaining his wings on July 7, 2022, at only three years old.
Although A’mir’s life was short, his impact continues to reach others. His journey inspired his mother to turn her grief into purpose by raising awareness for childhood cancer and creating Everhold Siblings, an organization dedicated to supporting children and teens grieving the loss of a sibling.
This September, A’mir’s family encourages the community to GO GOLD—wear gold, share the gold ribbon, educate others, and remember the children whose stories deserve to be told.
