Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff (Isaiah 40:21-24).
Dear Hearts,
As God offers encouragement to us through His Word, it is monumental knowing that He is in control of it all. We must not worry about what the future holds but understand who holds the future.
Amazingly, there are things in this world that God has given us the ability to do. Namely, it is truly amazing that construction builders can read a plan and build an edifice based on the drawings that have been strategically designed on paper. When individuals bake delicacies from ingredients that make lasting impressions on your tastebuds, is beyond belief. In addition, it is an awesome display of skill and intellect of people who can fly an airplane. However, my true amazement comes from knowing that God resides in a place where no one else will ever be able to reside. That is, His throne.
The place where He orchestrates the builder’s mind, the baker’s baking ability, and the airplane pilot’s understanding.
It does not matter what the case may be God-His infinite wisdom controls everything in the universe. Well, since He controls everything, then, He even control the princes and rulers of this world-which means that He controls presidents, vice presidents, secretaries of states, governors, etc., of this world.
In our aforementioned text, Isaiah offers “comfort and strength to His people.” It is always encouraging to hear messages that yield comfort to God’s people who may be downtrodden or with hurting hearts.
Isaiah asked the questions, “Do you not know? Have you not heard?” He specifically conveyed to the Israelites that God “sits enthroned above the circle of the earth…”; and “He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.” Our hope should never be placed on the rulers of this world.
I submit the same question to you. “Do you not know? Have you not heard?” God still sits on the throne.”
