Encouragement for the brokenhearted

By Lisa Wilmore

My Dear Friends,

Life sometimes can throw us some curve balls that we cannot understand the gravity of its significance. In most cases, we do not understand why things happen to us in the manner it happens and it’s timing as well. Even the strong sometimes will be flabbergasted or shocked by things that come their way, which may yield discouragement in a manner that leaves them with a broken heart and distraught. The agitations, worries, and distresses of life may cause individuals to become discouraged, and they must find the strength that resides deep in their hearts to truly continue the path that God has set before them.
What are you going through that has caused you to become discouraged due to a broken heart? Your encouragement today, is to be encouraged as Joshua was encouraged by God (Josh. 1:9); and Paul in like manner (Acts 23:11).
It is a fact that Jesus loves you more than you will ever know. His love for you is beyond explanation. When individuals accept Jesus as their personal Savior, He promised that He will never leave or forsake them. So, we must stand on the promises of God and know that when we go through disappointments and broken hearts, He is always there continuing to hold us as we need to be held.
Particularly, Scripture reminds us that “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Jesus kept His promise to leave His peace with the disciples. In like manner, we can bask in that same peace of the Holy Spirit when we go through our “Gethsemanes.” He shared with the disciples saying, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27). We have no need to be fearful or even discouraged about the present or future. Our confidence must be in the fact that Jesus left us His Spirit of Peace, His Holy Spirit, that will restrain the discomfitures in our lives.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.”

Let us pray: Our most High God, there are persons who may be going through a period of discouragement and broken heartedness today. We know that You have left Your peace which surpasses all understanding. It is our prayer that You heal the hearts and give lasting encouragement to them today. Let their thoughts be of You while they bask in Your goodness and awesomeness. Thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. It is in Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
Jesus Saves!
