A federal judge has dismissed a First Amendment lawsuit against State Senator Katrina Jackson-Andrews on August 15, 2025.
The lawsuit, filed by New Orleans resident Maya Detiege and later joined by Ponchatoula resident Dayne Sherman, claimed that Jackson-Andrews violated their free speech rights by blocking them on her Twitter (now X) account. Detiege was blocked after posting a vulgar and insulting comment about Jackson-Andrews’ anti-abortion stance, while Sherman was blocked in 2013 over a disagreement about a bill allowing public schools to start the day with the Lord’s Prayer.
