God knows when enough is “Enough”

By Lisa Wilmore

Scripture Reading: …And David’s heart smote him after he had numbered the people. And David said unto the LORD, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O LORD, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly. For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David’s seer…And David said unto Gad, I am in great strait (distress): let us fall now into the hand of the LORD; for his mercies are great: and let me not fall into the hand of man. So the LORD sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed: and there died of the people… seventy men. And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, “It is enough” stay (withdraw) now thine hand… (Selected Scriptures from 2 Samuel 24:10-18 KJV).

My Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Once again, I greet you in the only name that matters-that name is Jesus the Christ. I count it a blessing as well as a privilege to be afforded this God-given opportunity to share with you what God has been placed on my heart.

My prayer is that He continues to use me as a vessel to share the love of His Son, our Savior, Jesus. At the end of the day, our confession and belief in Jesus Christ is all that matters. However, while we are on this journey, it is imperative that we share Him with others. The Apostle Paul writes, “For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God” (Romans 14:11 KJV).

In light of past and most definitely current events, “God is good all of the time”. He was good on yesterday, He is good today, and He will be good on tomorrow. Hallelujah!
As we reflect on our recent and past events across the world, we must realize that God is in control. Even though there have been earthquakes in “divers’ places”, tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, pestilences (diseases), political wars, etc., God knows when “It is enough”.

In the aforementioned Scriptures, David is distressed for numbering the people. As a result of his sin, God sent a plague which killed seventy thousand men. Then, “when the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD relented the disaster and said to the angel, ‘Enough’ ” (NIV). Continue to pray and praise God! “God knows when enough is “Enough”.
