The Twin Cities Krewe de Rivière has officially selected Hollis Walker Jr. and Elizabeth “Liz” Ford to reign as the organization’s 2027 Mardi Gras King and Queen.
The royal pair will represent the organization throughout the upcoming Carnival season, presiding over formal festivities, community outreach events, and leading the annual Krewe de Rivière parade scheduled for late January 2027.
Honoring Community Leadership: The selection of Walker and Ford recognizes their dedicated engagement and support across the Twin Cities metro area. As King and Queen, they will serve as the chief ambassadors for the Krewe during official coronation galas, civic appearances, and local charity initiatives leading up to Mardi Gras.”Our royalty represents the heart and spirit of the Twin Cities,” the Krewe’s leadership emphasized following the selection. The royal court plays a key role in promoting the Krewe’s mission of family-friendly celebration and local pride across Ouachita Parish.
Established in 2019, the Twin Cities Krewe de Rivière was formed to bring an inclusive, community-focused Mardi Gras organization to North Louisiana. The Krewe takes its name from the Ouachita River, which acts as the geographical and cultural heart connecting the cities of Monroe and West Monroe.
Unlike traditional urban krewes, Krewe de Rivière celebrates the agricultural roots of the region by converting retired local cotton trailers into custom-built Mardi Gras floats. Operating from their float den on South Grand Street in Monroe, the organization works year-round to foster community spirit, tradition, and economic activity across the region.
The pair will formally take the throne as the 2027 Carnival season approaches, culminating when their royal processional rolls across the river on January 30, 2027.
