Monroe, La. — For the second year in a row, Chris Lewis and Coney Island Connection turned a simple chili dog into a powerful act of giving—raising thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during their annual September fundraiser.
Held at the restaurant’s North 7th Street location in West Monroe, the event draws supporters from across the Twin Cities of Monroe and West Monroe, reflecting the region’s generosity. Half of every chili dog sold during the one-day event goes directly to St. Jude, where families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing, or food.
“This is bigger than one restaurant or one city,” said Lewis. “Monroe and West Monroe have always stepped up for children in need. Every chili dog sold is another reminder that our community is united in making a difference.”
Since launching in 2023, the fundraiser has become a Monroe-area tradition, generating thousands annually and strengthening ties between local businesses and global causes. Supporters lined up not only for lunch but to be part of a mission that stretches from northeast Louisiana to families across the country.
Lewis said the response proves that the region’s businesses and residents have the power to be philanthropic leaders. “We’re showing that Monroe is a player,” he said. “We can do good right here at home, and it reaches all the way to Memphis and beyond.”
Coney Island Connection plans to continue the St. Jude fundraiser every September, inviting residents from across the Monroe-West Monroe metro to circle the date and join in the effort.
