I’ve started to realize most of the people I see all day around town are overweight. As a kid, we don’t get to make most of the decisions for what we do or eat each day but I am going to do whatever I have to do to keep the ‘fatpacks’ off me. The fatpacks is the blubber that hangs off your stomach and under your arms. I see fatpacks on people all the time and they seem to not even care. Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean you have to be skinny but we all need to be more healthy.“
Some people just like to eat too much. They need to work out more than they do. Some don’t even work out at all. It’s not that hard. They can go outside and jog. They can walk through the neighborhood. They can go to a gym. I do pushups every day when I work out.“
Playing basketball is one way anybody can work out. You will constantly move your legs, arms, and body muscles. The running and moving will help the blood circulate. Sometimes my brother plays with me when our parents start yelling, “Go outside and play!” We used to go to our gym to workout but now we just play basketball in the driveway.“
The main way to stay healthy is to eat healthily. I must admit I mess up every day because candy is so addictive. My dad says I won’t have any teeth by the time I graduate from High School. My favorite candy is Skittles and Mike & Ikes. Water and Milk are good drinks. Milk is good for your bones. Salads are also good for you. I see why people get so fat though. One order of fries is like 600 calories. Imagine if you put the hamburger and the soda with it! That’s like almost 2000 calories in one meal. All I can do is shake my head.“
We have to get the proper rest too. Sleep gives your body the energy it needs. I stay up all night and that’s why I’m usually tired and hungry the whole next day. If you sleep with the television on like I do sometimes you will wake up with headaches. Headaches make you eat and the cycle just never ends. Google says we are supposed to get 8 hours of sleep every night. That means I would have to go to bed at 8:00 so I can get up for 5 am to be ready for school every day.“ It’s good to eat but not good eating everything you see. My mom goes to the gym three times a week to lose weight. She is very hard on herself but my daddy says she is “fine”. I like candy and sodas but sometimes I overdo it. I have to do better because I don’t want to be one of those adults with fatpacks sitting on the couch eating twinkies all day. If the body is the house that God’s Spirit lives in then we all need to take better care of our bodies. I’m going to do whatever it takes to make sure my belly is not so big that I can’t see my feet when I look down!
