My brothers and sisters in Christ,
“Ready or not Jesus is coming.” Interestingly, it is obvious and noticeable that our lives are filled with day to day assignments, projects, and duties. In fact, we cannot complete one assignment, before there is another one that is considered to be more important than the others. It is important to remember and commit to heart that Jesus will return at any given time. We do not have time to get ready. We must be ready. This message is not a new revelation or illumination, but recorded in the Bible, God’s Holy Word.
Many of us arise early mornings with no thought that this may be the day He returns to receive the saints of God in His presence, with His ultimate plan to destroy the earth. The Bible declares, “For the LORD himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the LORD in the air: and so shall we ever be with the LORD” (I Thessalonians 4:18-19). Paul, in this text, gives us hope not only of His return to receive the children of God, but also that we will forever be with the LORD.
While writing this message, I recalled years ago when I was in my teens and early twenties. I thought about living day by day without a care in this world. However, time passed faster than I can remember while life taught some valuable and difficult lessons. These lessons sometimes will leave you “wounded and sad”, but God gives us hope that trouble do not last always. As I look back over my fifty-two years on this earth, there have been very few days that my mind wandered and pondered on the thought that this may actually be the day that Jesus returns. I’ve come to realize that He will return whether we are ready or not.
Remarkably, the Bible says, “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready…(Matthew 24:42-44a). If we knew of His return, we would make certain we are ready. Since we do not have knowledge of His return, we must be ready at all times. Ready or not, He is coming! Are you ready?
