Remembering the Legacy of Reverend Leo Hill

Reverend Leo Hill was born on July 17, 1949 to Theo and Agnes James Hill in Monroe, Louisiana. He gave his life to the Lord at the age of seven at the China Grove Baptist Church on Burg Jones Lane under the leadership of Rev. I. W. Watson. He was an active servant at the church as a deacon and was later ordained as a minister.

He received his early education at Swayze Elementary and was a graduate of Richwood High School class of 1967. He later went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University and Thirty plus from the University of Louisiana at Monroe formerly known as Northeast University. He was also certified in Special Education.

He worked diligently at LTI/Swanson for 36 years. After retiring from Swanson, his passion for molding children could not keep him away. He started working at the school where he received his Early education at Swayze Elementary. He also worked for many years at Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo, known as Captain Hill.

Leo was married to Vera Day Hill of Tallulah, Louisiana on December 19, 1975. He has one son Roderick Hill and a grandson Cameron Hill.

On Thursday, November 1, 2018, Reverend Leo Hill departed this life to glory.

His homegoing celebration will be Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at China Grove Baptist Church on 201 Ockley St., Monroe, LA 71202. The internment and repast will follow.

Visitation will be Friday, November 9, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home.
