Resilience

We cannot stop natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with knowledge.

In the toughest of times, we are seeing the best of Monroe. We have seen emergency service workers working around the clock to help families and communities. We have seen neighbors helping neighbors. We have the power to overcome any obstacle we are facing in life. Nelson Mandela said, “I am going to make it no matter what”. We have the same power to overcome any obstacle we are facing here in Monroe. Every storm is temporary. We can turn our setback into our comeback.

None of us can change our past, but all can change our tomorrow. The windshield in a car is much bigger than the rearview mirror. You can’t successfully drive the car forward by looking back.

If we have dreams in life that have failed, we must dream another dream. Dr. Martin Luther King said, “ If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Remember, we must bounce back from the storms of life stronger, wiser, and tougher.
