Blessings, Dear Hearts!
I greet you in the only Name that matters, and that Name is Jesus, our Everlasting, Eternal, and Endless Savior.
Please allow me to share with you about some of the most precious children at the Mangham High School God has placed in my reach. He has granted me the privilege of playing a small part in their senior year in preparing them to take College Algebra and also in preparation for college life.
Interestingly, I have found myself attending basketball games, football games, and now baseball and softball games to show my support for these precious children. Of course, I must admit that I am not much of a sports fan, but I attend with enthusiasm to let the students know how much I care for them and what they have going on in their lives.
Recently, the softball girls invited me to attend their game, and I joyfully did. They had a great night while defeating the other team 12 to 1. They were batting, catching, and playing with confidence and determination. It was a “sight to see”. The next day in class, one of the students, excitingly said to me, “Mrs. Wilmore, we were showing out for you!” I smiled and felt honored that the students thought enough of me to “show out,” which resulted in a win. This moment caused me to reflect on a deeper thought; that is- “What if we would show out for Jesus?” What if everything we did was done with a spirit of excellence to honor the “One” who gave His life for us and not to impress people?
With this in mind, the Apostle Paul, in I Corinthians wrote, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (10:31). In context, Paul was teaching believers about daily choices and Christian liberty as it related to food that had been associated with idol worship. Some believers felt free to eat it, while others struggled with their conscience. Paul reminded the church that the real issue was not merely the act of eating or drinking, but whether their actions honored God and considered the spiritual well-being of others (LASB).
In other words, everything we do, even the smallest and ordinary parts of our lives, are to reflect God’s glory. Eating, drinking, working, serving, etc., are to be done with such an awareness that our lives represent Christ.
The students were aware that I was watching them and they wanted to please me. Imagine living each day with the awareness that Jesus is watching. When we work, serve, speak, and treat others with love, we are “showing out” for Jesus. In fact, our lives glow as a light which points others to Him.
So, dear hearts, let us strive each day to give our best to honor our Savior. In doing so, we are truly “Showing out for Jesus.” I Love you with the heart of Jesus Christ!
