Scripture: But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say, peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness; therefore, let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
(I Thessalonians 5: 1-10).
Dear believers in Christ,
Certain Individuals have attempted to predict the coming of the Lord, but to no avail. However, without a doubt, Jesus will return. Are you prepared?
Throughout the Bible, writers have penned of Jesus’ return. In fact, Jesus himself tells the disciples in John 14, “ And I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself…”(3a). Matthew records, “For the son of man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done. (Matthew 16:27).
Our noted text illuminates Paul’s letter to the church of Thessalonica which noted “that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night”. Therefore,we must embrace the fact that we must be ready and prepared for his return at all times. With this in mind, “Are you prepared to meet Jesus?”
Several persons have tried to predict the day of the coming of Jesus but have not been able to do so. Do not leave your eternal life with Christ to chance by waiting on someone’s prediction.
Since we are children of the light, “Let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober (I Thessalonians 5: 6).
We must live each day prepared to meet Jesus.
