A Monroe man was arrested last night after he beat his live-in girlfriend because she said she didn’t want to be with him anymore. Monroe Police booked Herdurius Scott and charged him with domestic abuse battery and resisting an officer.
Around 7:00 PM on July 12, two Monroe police officers were dispatched to a residence on Bonner Drive in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival, the officers made contact with the victim who stated that she and her boyfriend, Herdurius Scott, had been in a relationship and living together for one year. They also have a child together. She stated that she told Scott that she didn’t want to be in the relationship anymore. According to the woman, she and Scott engaged in a verbal argument and while arguing, he struck her one time on the right side of her face with a closed fist.
The woman said that after he struck her, he began striking her again several times with closed fists. She said that when Scott started hitting her, she started striking him back with closed fists to defend herself.
Officers went to make contact with Scott at a residence on Dixie Ave. and upon arrival, he tried to run out the back door of the residence when they knocked on the front door. The officers were later able to take Scott into custody at another residence on Gordon Ave. He was transported to OCC for booking.
